D9 Individual Events AKA "The Thespy Festival"
This year's festival was held at Blake High School on October 18, 2025. Riverview High School, Troupe 5894 competed in a total of 25 events, with 14 events scoring "Excellent" and 11 events scoring "Superior" We were so excited to take the following events on to the Florida State Thespian Festival during Spring Break:
Matilda- set design by Scarlett Corner
"Beautiful City"- solo musical by Yan Lebron
"Suddenly Seymour"- duet musical by Yan Lebron & Natalie Torres
"I Miss the Mountains"- solo musical by Eva Bigham
Radium Girls- marketing design by Tyler Hildebrand
13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview- duet acting by Jenna Miner & Katie Wittmeyer
D9 One-Act Festival
Our District's One-Act Festival was held at USF on December 3-5, 2025. This year there were 28 competing schools that each brought a One-Act play to stage in USF's Theatre 1. Our students had so much fun watching other schools and sharing in our appreciation for the arts. We chose to present a student directed play, Superhero Ultraferno by Don Zolidis. We were given great feedback from the adjudicators. At the end of the Festival, our troupe garnered the following awards:

Florida State Thespian Festival
This outstanding event held in downtown Tampa each spring is an opportunity for students all over the state of Florida to showcase their talents, collaborate and network with their peers, and participate in workshops taught by industry professionals. In 2026 our troupe competed in 6 Thespy pieces, earning 3 Excellent Ratings, 3 Superior Ratings and 1 Judges Choice. Additionally, through participation in countless workshops including dramaturgy, dance, intimacy training, light design, stage combat, and audition techniques our students were not only able to bring valuable skills and new ideas back to our school, but one of our students earned a scholarship to the Open Jar Institute! Congrats Yan! Students also watched a variety of one-act performances and Mainstage shows including: Ride the Cyclone, The Marvelous Wonderettes, and Kodachrome.
